Catering services provide school meals, functions and civic events. The majority of work is based in schools and is term time only which is great if you like to have the school holidays for other activities! We have various posts from Unit Catering Managers at the Counties High Schools delivering many hundreds of meals each day, to the other end of the scale serving small rural schools serving a handful of children each day. Needless to say each kitchen requires a range of different staff to provide home cooked, fresh, nutritious food to children of all ages from cooking up the food, to helping with the service and clearing away the dirty dishes. Cleaning and Caretaking services provides a valuable facility to schools and other County Council premises such as Country Parks, Fire Stations and Social Services establishments. We need Caretakers to manage our buildings and be responsible for key holding and security as well as managing our other staff on site. We require cleaning staff to ensure that each and every building is kept spick and span, normally working early morning or late afternoons this leaves you with plenty of opportunity for other activities throughout the day. School Crossing Patrols provide a vital service to the community and assist in crossing of busy roads of children on their way to and from school. Working early morning and afternoon you will have a cheerful and helpful disposition and excellent eye-sight. Full training and uniform will be provided including your own lollypop stick.

Flexibility to work where and when it’s convenient. We have many members of staff who have chosen to combine a variety of these roles in order to maximise their earning potential. For example, someone who works as a school crossing patrol officer in the morning and afternoon and can also help with the meals service in a nearby school during lunch time.
